My handsome boys! Today’s post on the blog is my experience with the transition from 1-2 kids vs the transition from 0-1 - link is in my bio 💙

A Lip Oil/Gloss Roundup

January 08, 2020 in Makeup

Every time winter rolls around, I start collecting lip color products that feel more like skincare than makeup. Lately there has been an influx of “lip oil” launches and I’m here to tell you about three of my favorites.

Dior Lip Glow Oils - I bet you knew these would be featured when you read the title. These quickly became some of my favorite lip products within days of my first application. They feel more like a thick, balmy gloss rather than an oil. My favorite part is the applicator - it’s a big chubby doefoot that feels so plush and luxurious on the lips. The formula smooths over lip lines and makes the lips look fuller and more plump. It has a faint minty-ness to it that I love, and all of the shades leave a subtle tint to the lips that’s really flattering rather than being a full-on, opaque gloss.

Bobbi Brown Crushed Oil-Infused Gloss - These are another recent discovery, and after a few wears I filled my Sephora cart with more shades. These feel more like traditional lip glosses than the Dior oils mentioned above, but there’s still something nourishing about them. You can definitely feel the oil in them. The shades here are still sheer, but more noticeable than the Dior. Like the other products in the Crushed line, these give sort of a hazy, blurred look to the lips - the shine in this particular formula almost gives a watercolor effect. I have the shade Slow Jam, which is a sheer plum that really works as an everyday shade for me.

Kosas Wet Lip Oil Gloss - I’ve been using these glosses for the longest time out of the three formulas listed here, but it’s still a relatively new launch (anyone else totally overwhelmed by all the beauty launches lately?). These have the thinnest consistency out of the three, but they’re still not slippy or greasy. They still feel like a really comfortable, balmy gloss. It probably has the most “natural” gloss finish of the three - it’s not glassy. I’ve actually been using the clear shade as a regular lip balm most days. These glosses feel very nourishing on the lips and probably most like a lip treatment out of the three. The only color I have (besides Jellyfish, the clear one) is Malibu, the soft pink, and it’s definitely more pigmented than the other two glosses here. It still lets your natural lip color show through, but it’s on the more opaque end of translucent if that makes sense. I really want the magenta shade next!

If I had to choose a favorite formula, I’d pick the Dior ones. It’s mostly down to color preference rather than formula, though - I just really like the way the subtly adjusting shades of the Lip Glow Oils look on me.

Have you tried any of these products? Are you into the recent lip oil trend?
