Makeup Lately #5

October 08, 2015 in Makeup

This post can otherwise be known as "those solid two weeks when I was incredibly lazy." I don't know why, but for the past couple weeks, no matter how early I went to bed, I was waking up so, so exhausted. Maybe it's because it's so dark in the mornings now, or maybe it's because I ended up coming down with a horrible cold. Anyway, I was super lazy with my makeup simply to be able to spend a few extra minutes in bed in the morning. Although it's quite a boring look, I still thought it would be interesting to share how I made myself up just enough to avoid the barrage of "are you sick?" questions when I don't wear enough makeup to work.

My skin was starting to feel quite dehydrated, so I often didn't want to wear any base products - they made me feel like I was suffocating. If my skin was looking particularly bad, I covered up the problem areas with the Clarins Instant Concealer. This stuff has been a godsend - it covers my imperfections pretty well without turning me into a cakeface, and it's really easy to blend out over the face. The only other product I've been using on my skin is the rms beauty Living Luminizer, because I really just can't go a day without some highlighter. This one is noticeable yet really natural, and since it's made with lovely ingredients like castor seed oil, coconut oil, and beeswax, it feels almost like a balm on the skin.

I've been straying from my beloved Dipbrow lately and reaching for the Anastasia Brow Wiz instead. It takes about the same amount of time as using the Dipbrow, but right now it's giving me a more natural-looking result. Since I've been so minimal with my makeup lately I didn't want my brows to be quite as bold as usual, so the Brow Wiz has been perfect. I forgot to include it in the picture, but I've been making sure they're set in place with the Anastasia Clear Brow Gel.

For eyes I've been sticking to a little liner and a little mascara. I recently dug out the Clinique Quickliner for Eyes Intense in Intense Black Honey out of my collection - it really stays put but is easily smudged out before it sets. It also doesn't smear everywhere throughout the day when used in the waterline, so score. The color is a nice break from blacks and browns, too, as it's a deep burgundy color that makes my eyes pop - it kind of looks like I got more sleep than I did. For lashes I still haven't been able to get enough of the Maybelline Full N' Soft Waterproof Mascara - it holds a curl and stays put all day, and it gives a really lovely fluttery effect to the lashes. I don't see myself reaching for anything else for awhile.

My go-to lip look the past couple weeks was a little bit of the MAC Lip Pencil in Whirl smudged into some lip balm (the Glossier Balm Dotcom of course - it's my favorite lip balm ever). The result was a really pretty neutral color that just added a tiny bit of definition to the lips.

What products have you been reaching for a lot lately? Do you ever get into lazy makeup ruts like me?
