November Favorites

November 30, 2016 in Makeup, Skincare

November was quite a whirlwind full of ups and downs - the month began on a low note when my family had to put our cat down, but it gradually got better, ending with marathoning the Gilmore Girls revival with my sister (please share your thoughts below if you watched it!) and also getting engaged! I went a little crazy with new products this month, so everything I've been loving is a new-ish addition.

SKINCARE | I'm obsessed with a good face mist, and there's a new one I can't stop spritzing on every morning. The Saturday Skin Daily Dew Hydrating Essence Mist lured me in with that packaging and sold me with the name. It uses grape and kiwi extracts to nourish the skin, and it really does get the glow started. It's just a really nice face mist that looks pretty on my counter. What more could you want? After the mist I've been going on to use the Derma E Hydrating Serum.* My skin loves hyaluronic acid serums, so I knew it would take to this nicely. This is perfect as the weather cools down - it adds so much moisture and hydration to the skin before moisturizer, so it's perfect for combatting dry skin. It beautifully plumps up the skin as well, making makeup application afterward a breeze. The moisturizer I've been reaching for morning and night has been the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream. This is the most beautifully-textured moisturizer I've ever tried, feeling so rich and yet light at the same time. It uses a blend of six African oils, so it feels so nourishing and keeps my skin quenched all day long.

BASE | I mentioned in my Sephora VIB Sale Haul that I picked up the Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation, and I haven't been able to use anything else since. It's one of the most versatile foundations I've tried - sheering out on good skin days for just a bit of even-ing out, or layering up to a medium-full coverage when I need it without getting cakey. It's one of those "in-between" finishes - not dewy, yet not matte. It truly looks like skin and is even undetectable upon close inspection. I've already started thinking about what products I might want to use for my wedding (which won't be for at least another year and a half), and I think this might just make the cut.

LIPS | I fell in love with so many lip products this month (case in point - I dedicated a whole post to the ones I got in the VIB Sale), so I had to cut this section down and not mention all of them. My favorite lipstick of the month has definitely been the Estee Edit Mattified Lipstick in Sunday Vibe. It's just the most beautiful nude that complements a dramatic eye when layered on to full opacity, or it works as a great everyday shade when patted on over a lip balm. The formula is a lovely creamy matte as well that doesn't dry the lips out and yet stays in place for a good portion of the day. I've also jumped on the lipgloss bandwagon thanks to the new Glossier Lip Gloss (only available in their Black Tie Set). It's quite thick, but not in a bad way and isn't gloopy in the slightest. It feels more like a thick lip balm than a gloss, and it really does feel nourishing. It's slightly sticky, but I prefer that in a gloss as I know it's going to stay in place for awhile and not slip around my face.  It coats the lips with such a glassy sheen that I can't get enough of lately.

What were your favorites this month?
